Hello! We are Toshi and Megu.
We are currently transforming a historic hot spring inn (minshuku) into Tazawako Onsen Coliving — a sanctuary in the heart of Northern Japan where life, work, and community circulate in harmony.
Our project is more than a simple renovation. Guided by the principles of Regenerative Architecture, we are using traditional Japanese Sakan (earth plastering) and natural materials to breathe new life into this space, creating an environment that "breathes" alongside its inhabitants.
Both in our late 20s, we are driven by a shared mission to intentionally craft the future, step by step, with purpose and heart.
Tazawako Co-living is nestled halfway up a lush, forested mountain in the Tazawako region of Akita.
The area is celebrated for its pristine nature, therapeutic hot springs (Onsen), and the stunning deep-blue waters of Lake Tazawa—the deepest lake in Japan. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tazawako+Kogen+Onsenkyo/@39.7794342,140.7588468,1356m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x5f8f8982329d348f:0xc2849b4bb9f12c21!2sTazawa-See!8m2!3d39.7168527!4d140.6544861!16zL20vMDdreGhk!3m5!1s0x5f8561456b3df0ad:0x85f3a6c29f6cb945!8m2!3d39.7783671!4d140.7619204!16s%2Fg%2F1v8x1_hb?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDQxMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D

Our community is a vibrant hub for globally-minded people in their 20s and 30s. Residents from diverse international backgrounds bring fresh perspectives to this historic region. We believe the best connections happen over food. We frequently host communal dinners to share local Akita flavors and global stories, turning residents into a close-knit family.
Nature is our playground. From snowboarding and mountain hiking to the unique "Snow Sauna" experience, we embrace Akita’s seasons to stay physically and mentally inspired. From cozy indoor sessions to spontaneous garden BBQs, these daily rituals create a borderless bridge between people, nature, and society.
